It's a tough choice. Do you spend your time looking around for acting tips, hitting up every old and beleaguered-looking actor you can find for that one piece of priceless advice that will change everything for you overnight and completely eliminate your need to even worry about acting tips, or do you just go out there and do it, and devil-may-care if you succeed or fall flat on your face because darn it, you're going to make it one way or another.
The answer is obvious. Yes, don't be afraid to go out there and jus doo itt, but bear in mind that a few good acting tips here and there, if paid heed, can help keep you from falling flat on your face quite so many times. When reviewing your situation as an actor overall, look at acting tips as accessories to be applied tastefully to your acting skills wardrobe. In other words, a million people can give you helpful acting tips, but in the end it is up to you to bring yourself and who you are to the role.
So your own feelings and instincts are some of the best acting tips you can receive. The issue then is not whether or not you should seek out acting tips - it's always good to consider other people's advice - it's whether or not you can remember to imbue your performances with what you already know, with what's in your gut. Acting tips from somewhere else should be like a cherry on top of a well-made banana split.
